Every year we have a tree planting program on the farm. Whilst we talk about “going tree planting” it’s not just trees. We plant, shrubs, grasses and even small herbaceous plants. All the species used are indigenous to our area and grown from seed collected locally. Whilst we propagate some plants on farm most are contract grown for us. These plantings provide a variety of benefits to our farm including biodiversity/habitat enhancement, shade and shelter and as we saw in a recent storm, stream bank protection.

Five year old planting stabilising stream bank during flood event.
This planting program is carried out as part of our overall farm plan. This year we have around a thousand trees to plant most of these will go into topping up plantings done over the past few years.
